The Problem
Media Learning, a fast‑growing mid‑market EdTech company, has expanded through acquisitions and a new streaming platform. Yet, high turnover and low morale threaten its momentum. To tackle this, the company aims to boost engagement, grow internal talent, and cut attrition costs. Analysis reveals many new managers—promoted during rapid growth or acquired from other firms—need consistent training to strengthen engagement and leadership impact.
The Solution
To tackle the challenge, I proposed a scenario‑based eLearning program that lets managers practice real‑world conversations and strengthen engagement skills. eLearning offers flexibility across in‑person, hybrid, and remote teams; it’s scalable, cost‑effective, and easily updated for different departments or management levels. It not only solves current issues but also supports new‑manager onboarding. I also advised Media Learning to champion this skill by spotlighting a leader who models it and facilitating peer learning sessions.

My Process
Using the ADDIE model, I designed a learner‑focused experience that connected to real work scenarios, built on past experiences, and framed content through a clear problem‑solution approach.
The workflow focused on these key milestones:
Action Mapping
I used action mapping to isolate the key behaviors needed to meet business goals. Focusing on what learners must practice drives lasting habit change—crucial for soft‑skill growth like engagement and value creation.

Text-based Storyboard
I developed realistic, scenario‑based modules where learners navigate everyday workplace situations. Their choices shape outcomes, letting them safely explore consequences and build stronger decision‑making skills. A mentor character guides the experience, reinforcing key behaviors and desired actions.

Visual Mock Ups
After storyboard approval, I moved into visual design—building wireframes, a mood board, and a style guide to ensure consistency. Using Adobe Illustrator and vector graphics, I created cohesive, office‑inspired visuals with balanced layouts and a unified color palette

Using the storyboard and mock‑ups, I built an interactive prototype in Articulate Storyline 360 to test functionality and user experience. It featured interactive slides, smooth transitions, and a mentor layer on each question. Collaborating with other designers and user testers, I refined the flow for a more engaging, effective experience.

Interactive Prototype
I built an interactive prototype in Articulate Storyline 360 using the storyboard and mock‑ups. It included dynamic slides, smooth transitions, and a mentor layer for guidance. Collaborating with designers and user testers, I refined the experience for seamless flow and stronger engagement.

Full Development
After incorporating feedback on the interactive slides, I proceeded to finalize the development of the eLearning module. The full development process was straightforward and efficient, thanks to the guidance provided by the previous building blocks.

Results & Takeaways
Creating an inclusive, cohesive design was a personal priority from the start. I wanted every learner to see themselves represented, which meant adapting and refining graphics to achieve both diversity and visual harmony. Investing time and care early in the process proved invaluable—the “measure twice, cut once” mindset truly paid off. Above all, I approach each project with curiosity and a growth mindset, continually learning from SMEs, exploring new tools, and staying attuned to evolving design and AI trends that shape better learning experiences.
